Simple 4-Ingredient Oatmeal Banana Cookies - More Of Food.

All these Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the very best banana flavored cookie I've ever had. Not only are they really are moist and chewy for times, but they're unmistakably banana-y.

Banana may be one of these flavors that can get lost when you bake with it. It can be really subtle taste. It always bums me out if that occurs, because I really like the taste of banana. And thus does the hubs.

So when good brewed banana treats come together, we go a little crazy for them.

These biscuits make the record of banana things to go crazy for. With no doubt.

And they're so moist, they nearly melt in your mouth. Additionally, with both banana and oats inside them, they're basically healthy, right? And ideal for breakfast!

Making them is equally as simple as eating them.

You have the typical suspects -- butter, brown sugar, white sugar, an egg, vanilla and mashed bananas. You begin by mixing all those beautiful components together.

I have to warn you. The smell of that mixture -- with the banana -- is intoxicating. The hubs was at the kitchen creating the dough together with me (we made a deal that included him carbonated with me) and we had to work hard to not put our faces, or a straw, right into it.

You then add all the dry ingredients (which usually means you simply use one bowl yay!) And mix it all together!

To bake them, spoon about a tablespoon of bread and make a thick disc, rather than a chunk. They spread somewhat when baking, and thus don't put them too close together. Bake them for about 10-12 minutes to get a nice, moist cookie. So yummy!

One additional thing I love about this recipe is really where it came from.

My grandmother (my dad's mom) passed out in 2008. After I started draining a lot a couple of years ago, my uncle gave me her cookbook he'd had and didn't use. I have had it on my list to produce numerous her desserts since.

My father and I left her gaufrettes (a French cookie -- my grandparents were French) a year or so ago. It was a convention for my grandma to make them each Christmas! She also gave everyone a large tin of these, which has been really an effort with 6 sons.

I know just how much of an accomplishment it was! My goodness. She left them using a conventional gaufrette iron which goes over a open flame. My dad and I had them in the cooker. They cook very fast and you have to be precise. Too long and they kind of disintegrated into the iron. Too long and they burned into the iron and we needed to clean it out.

My father was minding the batter and removing the biscuits, I had been working the ironthe hubs was timing things. It required many attempts to get it , but they were so excellent! I've tried to make them again on my own and it never works. I'd love to share the recipe, however, the dang irons are so hard to find. And expensive. Sooner or later, I'd like to just make a cookie with the identical gaufrette flavor.

For now though, I am sharing these biscuits. I don't think I ever had them made thembut they're from her novel.

It's such an enjoyable recipe book to check through, also. There are so many handwritten pages, clippings and newspaper recipes which were taped to the book. I really like the way they used to compose recipes at the paper -- they'd the individual who submitted it's name and adorable little tales. It is so fun to browse through them! What another time in the world!

Anyways, I do not know where this recipe came from. The paper looks like it had been on a flier out of their square dancing group or something (they were big to square dance ). It is definitely from West Virginia, where they dwelt.

In any event, I'm so glad to finally check out here talk about a recipe from her novel with you! I made a couple of adjustments to make them thicker and more puffier and they are delicious. There'll be more to come out of her recipe book, but for now enjoy the banana.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies

Return: 34-36 COOKIES


1 cup brown sugarpacked

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

2 tsp cornstarch

3 cups old fashioned oats




3. Stir in vanilla.


5. Spoon tablespoons of dough onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Flatten dough a little bit, into thick discs. They'll disperse a little when boiled.

6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges just begin to gold.

7. Remove from oven and cool on cookie sheet for 3-4 minutes, then proceed to cooling rack to finish cooling.
